posted by Scott on May 7th, 2009We just launched the latest version of the Franklin County Visitors Bureau site, Explore Franklin County. This update primarily consists of visual enhancements, and some back-end functionality to support the next phase of the site, which includes some pretty cool multimedia and interactivity tools! We’ll keep you updated when the next phase goes live!
New 2nd Floor site goes live.
posted by Scott on February 24th, 2009After months of planning, designs, re-designs, and coding (100% new, clean, and validated code), we’re excited to have finally launched the new 2nd Floor website.
A website is never “complete” and should always be kept fresh with updates and features and our site is no different. We were so eager to launch that we decided to do so without having all of the cool features we have planned for the site, so please check back for them soon. If you’re interested in being notified when the site is updated, you can subscribe to the feed or join the e-newsletter; we’ll make announcements using both.
As always, we welcome your feedback so if you have any suggestions, please let us know.
Instant Messaging at work
posted by Scott on February 6th, 2009At 2nd Floor, we rely on email and the phone to communicate with each other internally and with our clients. However, we also use IM to communicate too and it has worked out really well for us. We are on our instant messengers from 8am until 5pm (or whenever we leave the office), and then sometimes again in the evenings if we have our laptops with us in front of the TV. I thought that I would share an article that I had stumbled upon awhile ago in case anyone was considering the use of instant messaging in their business.
With that said, I’ll go ahead and plug my favorite IM application, Digsby (www.digsby.com). I can connect to all IM protocols, and it can update me with email alerts and has a ton of other nice features. By far, the best IM application out there today and the developers are top notch.
Here’s the article, it’s kind of long so I’ll just post a link.

Through a partnership with Wendt Partners, an organizational and marketing consultancy with offices in Mechanicsburg, PA and Washington, DC, 2nd Floor is designing and developing a web platform for a new education and workforce development initiative as commissioned by the National Governors Association (NGA). The initiaitve is known as PA STEM, and gets part of its name from the focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We’re looking to put the web tools into action around the first of the new year.
